Upper Snake Region Fishing Information
#1
Ice fishing is becoming increasingly difficult with the warmer weather. Anglers should use caution if attempting to access ice, as shorelines are likely to be dangerous.
South Fork Snake River: Flows are starting to pick up to meet irrigation demand but the nymph and streamer fishing is still good. The best fishing can likely be found on the upper river from the dam down to PaliSades Creek where rainbows are sitting on reds. Flows are expected to increase dramatically after Memorial Day so this might be the time to hit the South Fork.

Henry's Fork Snake River: Much of the Henry's Fork is closed until Memorial Day but you can fish from Riverside Campground downstream to Ashton Dam and from the Vernon Bridge down to the Fall River confluence. The best bet would probably be upstream of the Fall River, which is bringing in a lot of color. The afternoon caddis hatch is creating action.

Henry's Lake: New to Henry's Lake this year will be boat washing stations. Officials are concerned with invasive species introduction into Henry's Lake and other water bodies. Henry's Lake seems to be the perfect habitat for Eurasian watermilfoil, a species that can quickly take over shallow lakes and could be detrimental to the fishery. Eurasian watermilfoil is currently present in certain waters in northern and southwest Idaho and waters in other states also.

Please wash your boat, trailer, and pontoon boats thoroughly prior to entering Henry's Lake. Boat wash stations will be located at the State Park ramp and at the County boat ramp. Portable stations are located at other ramps around the lake including the Fish and Game hatchery. Additionally, a thorough washing at a car wash before heading to the lake will work also. It's a good idea to wash all equipment before entering and after leaving any water body. Look for posted details on the new boat wash stations and this species of watermilfoil. Your cooperation in this matter is important to preserving the fine fisheries we have in Idaho.
