State Reaches Settlement on Burned Lake Hope Lodge
#1
Process Now Turns to Hiring Design Consultant, Building Replacement

COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has reached a settlement in its insurance claim for the burned Lake Hope State Park dining lodge. The state has received $5 million that will be used to design and build a replacement facility at the park.

The original lodge burned on Feb.10, 2006 and was deemed a total loss. No cause for the fire was determined, but arson was ruled out. The dining lodge was built in 1950 and was well known for its stone and wood architecture and historical photos that lined its interior walls. It was a popular location for weddings and reunions.

The state is now in the process of hiring a consultant to design a replacement structure. The estimated timeline is for construction to be completed in the next two to three years.
